Iowa Plain Dealer July 6, 1893, P3 C2

Henry Clark a young man over on the Iowa, aged about 23 years was drowned on Sunday while in bathing. He was subject to epileptic fits and it is supposed to have had one while in the river as the water was but three feet in depth. He went to the river in company with a man and a boy about twelve years old and while the man was hitching the team Clark stripped and dove into the stream. The boy called out that he believed Clark was drowning when the man left his team and waded in the stream which was very roily and when Clark was found he was past resuscitation.
