COON RAPIDS, MN - A Mass of Christian Burial for Eileen F. Drilling of Coon Rapids, Minn. will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Katharine Drexel Church in Ramsey, Minn. Inurnment will be held in Epiphany Pines Cemetery in Coon Rapids, Minn.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

Eileen, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at her home in Coon Rapids.

Eileen Florence Drilling was born March 11, 1928 at the family farm home in rural Cresco, Iowa the fourth of seven children born to Ferdinand and Leona (Herold) Drilling. She attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Cresco High School in 1945.

At age 20 Eileen joined the Order of School Sisters of Notre Dame and continued her education and taught at various schools in Minnesota and Iowa. She received her degrees in education and psychology during this time. She was a member of the Notre Dame Sisters for 30 years.

After leaving the convent at age 50, Eileen worked in the mental health field and retired a a psychologist at the Hazelden Addictions Treatment Center.

Eileen had a passion for the written word. She was a prolific writer and published author. She was known to her friends as a gentle spirit who touched many lives through her ministries.

Eileen is survived by her sister: Lorraine O'Hearn; her brothers: Robert (Dorothy) Drilling and Vern Drilling; her dear friend and caretaker: Judy Rothfork; and many nieces and nephews; as well as numerous friends and colleagues in the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister: Dorothy Drilling; and brothers: Eugene Drilling and Al Drilling.
