Joy Margaret Reis was born March 17, 1923 in Old Town, Lime Springs, IA to Herman and Ruth (Davis) Lidtke. Joy graduated from Lime Springs High School in 1941 and completed a one year clerical program at Wartburg College in Waverly. Following college she worked one year as a clerk at the Rationing Board in Cresco. She married Oliver Reis on June 23, 1943 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lime Springs. Together they farmed in Bonair where they raised their family and lived for 50 years. Oliver died in 1992 and the following year Joy moved to Cresco. Joy was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church. She loved being a homemaker as her family was very special to her. As a homemaker she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and baking. She also enjoyed antiques, doing the crossword puzzles in the Des Moines Register and had a quick wit. Her greatest joy was being in the presence of her family. Joy is survived by five children: Mark (Winifred) Reis of Lime Springs, IA, Ron (Marilyn) Reis of Lime Springs, IA, Barbara Joy (Bob) Meimbresse of Cape May, NJ, John (Kay) Reis of Lime Springs, IA, Leisa Thompson of St. Paul, MN; 11 grandchildren: Monica Joy Reis-Bergen & Mike Bergan, Charlie & Shannon Reis, Sondra Reis & Steve Gansen, Rachelle & Mark Branum, Andrea & Chad Kloberdanz, Brandon & Jessica Reis, Nikkole Meimbresse & Brian Zjawiony, Kaitlin Joy & Bobby Murray, Jason & Jen Reis, Josh & Amy Reis and Lani Joy Thompson; 18 great-grandchildren: Justin, Jessica, Joy, Riley, Sawyer, Genevieve Joy, Samuel, Caden, Mara, Jack, Marie, Harper, Campbell, Maxwell, Taylor, Easton, Cade, Eversyn and another on the way; and 2 brothers: Charles Lidtke and Roy Lidtke. Joy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 sisters: Hope Souhrada and Doris Lidtke; 2 brothers: David and Paul Lidtke.

Visitation:
12:00 pm to 1:30 pm on Friday, April 24, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lime Springs, Iowa.

Service:
1:30 pm on Friday, April 24, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lime Springs, Iowa.

Cemetery:
at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs, Iowa.
