Emma A. Foote, age 98 of Cresco died Sunday March 22, 2015 at the Cresco Care Center. Emma Arlene Foote was born on a farm in Vernon Springs Township near Cresco on September 9, 1916, the oldest daughter of Henry Walter and Nellie (Marshall) Fye. Emma attended rural grade school in Howard County and graduated from Cresco High School in 1934 where she earned a teachers certificate. Emma married Emil Timmerman on September 9, 1936 in Cresco; to this union seven children were born: Duane, Arlene, Maxine, Merlin, Lois, Marvin and Janet. Emma and Emil lived in or near Cresco until 1946 when they moved to Protivin where Emil was employed as a mechanic. They moved back to Cresco in 1951 to the home where Emma remained for 60 years when she entered the Cresco Care Center. Emil preceded her in death on February 17, 1961. She later married Clark Foote on March 14, 1964 in Harmony, Minnesota. Emma and Clark operated Foote Trucking and she worked in several cafés while raising her family until she retired in 1983. Clark preceded her in death on September 29, 1992. Emma was a long time member of the Cresco United Methodist Church and its afternoon circle as well as the Special Needs Association. Emma enjoyed fishing, cooking, flowers, jigsaw puzzles and collecting plates from the different states she and Clark visited while trucking. Emma is survived by four daughters: Arlene (Donald) Lienhard of Waterloo, Iowa, Maxine (David) Herold of Cresco, Iowa, Lois (Tony) Hoppenworth of LaPorte City, Iowa and Janet (Michael) Schaefer of Waterloo, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Judy Engleman of Anchorage, AK; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three sons: Duane Timmerman in 1991 and his wife Jane in 2008, Merlin Timmerman in 1970 and Marvin Timmerman in 1988; two brothers; one sister and 3 great-grandchildren, Brynna and the Selesky twin boys.
Visitation:
4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.Service:
11:00 am on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Cresco.Cemetery:
