Carol was born September 15, 1952 in Cresco, Iowa to Eddie and Helen (Smith) Miller. She grew up in Lime Springs, Iowa, graduating from Cresco, Iowa in 1975. She attended one year at Minnesota Bible College. Carol married John Scherb on November 13, 1976 in Lime Springs.
As a young adult Carol played in the Christian rock group “Amplified Love” for several years. She loved singing and playing the guitar. She was active in children’s and youth music in church as well as being involved in youth ministry, teaching Sunday School and Women’s Bible studies and missions.
Carol spent most of her adult life in social services, working in adolescent treatment centers and working with adults with various disabilities. She was a supervisor for 8 years at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, Iowa before retiring in October of 2014.
She enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota with her family. She took great delight and joy in her three granddaughters. She had lots of fun attending her son’s ballgames and music performances while they were in school. Carol was a loving, encouraging and accepting person. She will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Helen Miller; one brother- in- law.
Carol is survived by her husband, Rev. John Scherb of 38 years; sons, Josh (April) Scherb of Des Moines, Ia., Zach (Amy) Scherb of Council Bluffs, Ia., Chris Scherb of Dallas Center, Ia.; granddaughters, Kiara, Kayla and Khloe Scherb; brothers, Eddie (Rosie) Miller of Lime Springs, Ia., Danny (Denise) Miller of Rochester, Mn.; sisters Debbie Swenson of Lime Springs, Ia., Janet (Doug) DeVries of Lime Springs, Ia.; sister-in-laws, Kathy (Dave) Voorhes of Northwood and Elaine Farrell of Bella Vista, Ark.; 12 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
