Kenneth L. Stevenson, age 89 of Elma, IA passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Colonial Manor in Elma, IA.

Kenny Stevenson the son of Lynn and Nellie (Seavy) Stevenson was born September 18, 1925 in Maple Leaf, Iowa. He attended country schools around the area. Following his schooling he worked various jobs. In 1946 he joined the US Navy where he spent much of his time on the USS Guadalupe. After returning home he married Betty Tierney on October 30, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. Kenny owned and operated Kenny’s DX in Elma.

Kenny enjoyed woodworking, and fishing. He was a big supporter of Elma. In his spare time he was often found helping out with different community projects and keeping the history of the town he loved.

He was a member of the American Legion John Frahm Post #597, where he was the post commander for over 30 years.

Kenny is survived by his children, Dennis (Sandra) Stevenson of Elma, IA, Gary Stevenson of Mason City, IA, Nancy (Glen) Benson of New Hampton, IA, Kelly (Cindy) Stevenson of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother, Donald Stevenson of CA; grandchildren, Brian, Scott, Eric, Aaron, James, Anne and great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Carly, Jenya, Myiah, Joey, Brady.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty; grandson Patrick Benson; sister, Marjorie Wells; brothers, Brice Stevenson and Lynn Stevenson.

ELMA - Kenneth L. Stevenson, age 89 of Elma, Iowa passed away on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at Colonial Manor in Elma.

Visitation will be from 9-11 on Feb. 28, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., with Father Steve Garner officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Elma at a later date.

Kenny Stevenson, the son of Lynn and Nellie (Seavy) Stevenson, was born Sept. 18, 1925 in Maple Leaf, Iowa. He married Betty Tierney on Oct. 30, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Church.
