Iowa Plain Dealer October 1, 1891, P3 C3

MEAD—At the home of C. B. Mead in Geneva, Kane Co., Illinois, September 20th, 1891, Philip Mead, aged 89 years, 8 months and 14 days.

Deceased was the eldest of the children of Amon Mead, who was a brother of the father of the PLAIN DEALER publishers. He was born in what at the time of his birth was Montgomery county, since changed to Fulton Co., N. Y. The family of which deceased was a member was a numerous one, all of whom but three, Andrew Mead, Lucy A. Mead and Eliza, wife of Isaac H. Cadman, at Beloit, Wis., have long since gone to that bourne from which no traveler returns.

Cousin Philip leaves three children to mourn the death of as honest and upright a parent as the world ever saw, viz.: Mrs. Alice P. Kearns of Riceville, Chas. B. Mead of Geneva, Ill., and Philip J. Mead of Mason City, Iowa.

Deceased for a number of years was a resident of Cresco where he was well and favorably known.

The PLAIN DEALER with the other surviving relatives mingles its tears of sorrow with those who mourn.
