Iowa Plain Dealer August 6, 1891, P2 C6

DIED.

REMINGTON.—At his home in Wells, Faribault Co. Minn., July 28, 1891, after an illness of several months, James Steele Remington, assistant cashier, Citizens bank, aged 43 years, 4 months and 12 days.

Deceased was born in Cattaraugus county, N. Y., March 16, 1848. For several years he made his home at Jamestown, N. Y., where he was engaged in selling sewing machines. The 14th of August 1874, he was married with Eloise Mather, at Jamestown, coming to Howard county to reside in September of that year. In 1878, they removed from this place to Wells, where he resided to the time of his death. During his residence here he made many valuable and enduring friends. A conscientious regard for truth and correct morals, marked his intercourse with his fellow men. His christanity{sp} consisted in good words where needed and noble acts instead of long prayers, his charities drew upon his purse quite as liberally as upon honied{sp} words. As a friend he was true, as a man he was honest and upright, as a husband he was a model.

His funeral occurred last Friday, an immense concourse of people turning out to pay the last tribute of respect to the memory and virtues of one who was held in high esteem for his pure life and noble traits of character. He leaves a widow, who having had so amiable a companion, will find life lonely indeed. In her loneliness the God of the widow and the fatherless must be her refuge
