Iowa Plain Dealer May 7, 1891, P2 C2

Chester Crumbs Swept Up.

Rev. Smith preached the funeral sermon of Mrs. Maria Laws, last Sabbath afternoon.

Mrs. Laws died at the asylum at Independence, April 19th,--aged nearly 80 years. She came to this country from England, in 1958 and settled in Wisconsin; came to Chester in 1858, where she has resided ever since. Her husband, Major Laws died about 24 years ago. She leaves five children; two sons and three daughters to mourn her loss. She was a kind neighbor and a good Christian woman; but for the last few years, she has been losing her mind, and was taken to the asylum at Independence for treatment a short time ago, and the sad news of her death was not unexpected.
