Iowa Plain Dealer February 12, 1891, P3 C2

Charles Martin, a young man of this village, was killed last Friday by the overturning of a load of wood he was hauling from the timber southeast of Cresco. Not returning as expected his brother went to ascertain the cause of detention and found him beneath his load of logs and pole wood by the side of the road, dead. He seems to have been walking by the side of his load, when the runner dropped into a ditch that was obscured by the snow with the result above stated. He was about 24 years of age. His parents and friends have the sympathy of the public in their sudden bereavement.

Transcriber's Note: Cemetery records indicate Charles is buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery and was born November 7, 1865 and died February 6, 1891
