Judith M. “Judy” Finger was born on April 13, 1939, daughter of Otto and Margaret (Lynch) Finger in Waverly, IA. Judy grew up in the Fayette, IA area. After high school, Judy went on to nursing school, starting her first job in 1960 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for several years and one year in California. When Judy moved back to Iowa from California she ended up in Britt, IA until 1970, when she was offered a teaching position for nursing at NICC in Calmar, IA. It was while teaching in Calmar that Judy was introduced to Leonard Zeller of Cresco. They were married on August 13, 1977, at the United Methodist Church in Fayette, IA. In 1978, Judy quit her teaching position, and became a farm wife on Leonard’s farm NE of Cresco. Judy and Leonard retired from the farm life in 1983, and began running Little O Drive-in in Calmar for 9 summers. Judy worked as the Health Coordinator for Community Action up to her retirement in 2002, and worked in the fuel assistance program until her health began to fail.

In her younger years Judy was a member of the Cedar Rhapsody Chapter of Sweet Adeline singing group in Cedar Rapids, IA, which was a four part a Capella barbershop competitive group. Judy was also a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, where she served time as the President of the UMW. Judy will be remembered as a wonderful cook. Her family looked forward to her chocolate chip cookies and vegetable pizza at family functions. She enjoyed spending her time reading, sewing, listening to classical music, and her love of cats.

Judy is survived by her husband Leonard Zeller of Cresco, IA, brother Alan (Kathy) Finger of Coggon, IA, sister-in-law Gladys Riste of Lyle, MN, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Preceding Judy in death are her parents, and niece Kathrine Hemann.

Memorials may be given to HoCA, Cresco United Methodist Church, Hope Lodge, or the American Red Cross.
