Mabel Van Leuven, daughter of the editor of the Spring Valley Vidette, was buried Monday. Rev. T. S. Leonard delivered the funeral sermon before a very large audience. Appropriate funeral offerings were abundant. The deceased had been an invalid, on the brink of the grave, for many months, and had the deep sympathy of the entire community. The tender, devoted watching and care of parents and friends could not save her from the grave. Their tears will not bring her back. The bright young life has flickered out and the soul of Mabel is in the realms of painless, peaceful rest. The stricken ones have our most kindly sympathy. May the spirit of the departed child always be near to comfort and guide them.--{National Republican.
