Helen B. Craft, age 89, of Cresco, Iowa passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Cresco Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco, Iowa. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 at the church. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404 North Elm Street, Cresco, IA, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Bessie Randak was born on August 22, 1925, daughter of Anton and Lula (Milla) Randak in Paris Township, Howard County, Iowa. She attended country school until the 8th grade. On June 14, 1944, Helen married Harold Craft. To this union 7 children were born Donna, Roger, Ruth, Diane, Carol, Harold Jr., and Connie.

Helen had strong faith in God, and spent many hours praying the rosary. She was an adventurous cook that was always trying out new recipes. Friends and family that would drop-in to visit ended up with a full course meal or a pie from scratch. Helen adored her family and enjoyed when they came to visit. For holidays Helen went all out making sure Christmas in July had Christmas trees decorated. One year Helen and her family were able to escape the Iowa winter on a Caribbean cruise. She enjoyed spending her time playing bingo, trying her luck at the casino, tending to her flower garden, and watching the Food Network.

Surviving Helen are her children Donna Kelly of Cresco, IA, Roger Craft of Cresco, IA, Ruth (David) Shimek of Clear Water, FL, Diane (Stephen) Gradhandt of Boise, ID, and Harold Jr. of Rochester, MN, her grandchildren Kevin Kelly and his son Graden Kelly-Anderson, Pat Kelly and his children Kyler Kelly and Blayne Kildahl, Dawn (Terry) Gossman and their children Easton and Alivia Gossman, Dennis Shimek and his children Chelsey (Joe) Mueller, Summer, Alexa, and Brooke Shimek, Don Shimek and his children Isaac and Nikki Shimek, DJ's children Kayla Fitzpatrick, Kylie, Zachary, and Logan Shimek, Dylan (Jessica) Gradhandt and their children Alexis, Ayva, and Sophia Gradhandt, Darryn (Jean Marie) Gradhandt and their children Mia De Le Cruz and Hazel Gradhandt, Kim (Roland) Shever and their children Nathan and Samantha Burke, Hunter and Brianna Shever, Tina (Dennis Hron) Burke and their children Christopher Burke, Jordan and Tyler Harrington, and Amber Hron, Cary (Craig Witt) Burke and their children Bruce, Billie, Bobbi, and Bailey Hageman, Heather (Marcus) Christopherson and their children Andrew, Ethen, Ania, Caleb, Joseph, Ellie Marie, and Emily Grace Christopherson, Jason (Tracy) Craft and their daughters Bethany and Kaitlyn Craft, Clinton (Michelle) Craft and their children Christopher, Ashlyn, and Brooklyn Craft, Joshua Erath and his son Dylan Erath, and Jeremiah (Jessica) Craft and their son Jacob, three great great grandchildren Anthony, Steven, and Addison, her sister Irene (Harry Slayen) Kramer of San Diego, CA, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, 2 daughters Carol (William) Burke, Connie Craft, son-in-law Frank Kelly, grandchildren Daniel “DJ” Shimek, and Rebecca Kelly in infancy, sisters Dorothy M. Randak, and Marcella (William) Halweg, and brother-in-law James Kramer.
