Obituary:
David Elwood, 30, of Norwalk, IA, formerly of Cresco, IA, passed away at his parent's home in Cresco, Iowa following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness on Sunday, September 14, 2014 while surrounded by his family and friends. David R. Elwood was born June 30, 1984 in Cresco, Iowa to Robert and Susan (Paulson) Elwood. David graduated from Crestwood High School in 2002. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Iowa State University and went on to receive his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa in 2010. He started his own chiropractic practice in Norwalk, Iowa, and enjoyed serving the people in that community prior to becoming ill. David believed that quality of one’s life was far more important than longevity. From the time he was a small child, until his death, he made sure that he made every second count. When he realized that he was going to die at a young age, he comforted his family and friends by telling them not to feel sorry for him, but instead pity those who coast through life not realizing what a remarkable adventure life offers us. David passed away on September 14, 2014 at his parent’s home surrounded by his family and friends; telling everyone not to be sad and to continue being fun-loving characters. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Patty Elwood and Jack and Ruth Paulson and his cousin Lee Paulson. David is survived by his parents, Brothers Rob and Adam Elwood, his fiancé Nellie Keys, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Memorials are suggested to Howard County Hospice and First Lutheran Church

Visitation:
Friends may call from 4:30-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, Iowa as well as one hour prior to services at the church.

Service:
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 am. at the First Lutheran Church in Cresco.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cresco, Iowa.
