BARKER—In Cresco Iowa Nov. 19, 1886, Jeremiah Barker aged 34 yeary{sp} 3 months and 15 days.

The deceased was born in Boone county, Indiana, coming to Howard county with his parents when in his fifth year, hence nearly his entire life has been among our people and in this county. He has been honored by the people with an election as county auditor and for several years has held the office of Justice of the Peace, always discharging his duties as an officer or citizen so as to merit and receive the approval of his fellow men.

Some eleven years ago he married Ada M. Upton a daughter of Judge Upton, to whose tender and loving care, he leaves two boys, the eldest about ten, the other about five years old.

He was a true husband and and{sic} an indulgent, kind and affectionate father.

He was the junior member of the law firm of Barker Brothers; well and favorbly{sp} known throughout the State. A large circle of friends and relatives mourn his untimely death. He was careful to provide for those dependent upon him for support, and that their comfort might not be jeopardized, for them he had provided a life insurance to the amount of $3,000.

With the sorrowing widow the fatherless boys and mourning relativen{sp} the entire public deeply sympathise.
