Allen D. Taylor, 50, passed away July 16, 2014, at his home, in Chester, Iowa.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, Iowa, with Father Nick March presiding. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 123 North Main Street, Protivin, IA, with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Allen David Taylor was born on March 28, 1964 in Cresco, Iowa, son of Alvin and Bea (Berka) Taylor. He was baptized, celebrated his first communion, and was confirmed at Holy Trinity Church in Protivin. Allen graduated with the Crestwood High School class of 1982. On September 15, 1984, he married Janetta Crain at Holy Trinity Chuch; they later divorced. Allen farmed for several years and raised his family in the Protivin area. He enjoyed spending his leisure time snowmobiling, playing euchre, listening to polka, riding his motorcycle, and cruising in his Pontiac Firebird. He enjoyed many squirrel hunting trips with his son Nick. Allen especially loved spending time with his two grandchildren, family, and friends.
He is survived by his children Tiffany Nightingale of Cresco, IA, and Nick (Melissa) Taylor of Plainfield, IA, grandchildren Trent and Alyssah Nightingale, his parents Alvin and Bea Taylor of Protivin, IA, brothers Darrell Taylor of Seattle, WA, Harlan (Avis) Taylor of Sumner, IA, sister Lynelle (Owen) Grube of Cambridge, MN, nieces and nephews Greg (Wendy) Grube, Laurie Grube, Amanda (Jason) Hovey, Dan (Lindsey) Taylor, and Julie Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
