SUN CITY WEST, AZ - Geraldine Bates of Sun City West, Ariz. passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at her home in Sun City West, Ariz. after a short illness.

Geraldine Bates was born June 7, 1936, at home in Howard County, the daughter of Roy and Adeline (Niewald) Frank. She was a 1954 graduate of Cresco High School. She attended Luther College in Decorah and graduated from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

She married Robert Bockoven and they became the parents of three children, Lisa, Nancy and David. She taught school in Minnesota and Illinois. Later she married Darrell Bates and they moved to Sun City West, Ariz.

Geraldine is survived by her three children; three grandchildren; and a brother: Gene Frank of Sun City West, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother: Dale Frank of Renton, Wash.
