Gerald "Jerry" A. Sutton, 71, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of cancer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church with burial in Garden of Memories.
Full graveside military rites were conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post No. 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post No. 31.
The Hagarty-Waychoff-Garup Funeral Service in Waterloo handled arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Jerry was born April 9, 1928, in Cresco, the son of Joseph and Mabel (Ofstadel) Sutton.
He married Florence Dozark February 10, 1962, in Waterloo.
Jerry worked at Rath Packing Co. in the smoked meat department and on the scales for 36 years, retiring in 1984. He was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include six sons, Perry, George, Gerald and Patrick, all of Waterloo, and Paul and Pete, both of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; two brothers, Clodus of Waterloo and Leo of Long Prairie, Minn.; and three sisters, Marlys Rucker of Sheridan, Ill., Darlene Smith of Shell Rock and Kathy Dozark of Las Vegas.
Gerald Sutton was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Sutton; and a brother, Tom.
