Iowa Plain Dealer December 28, 1882, P3 Cs
Alexander Searles, one of the early settlers of the county, while driving a spirited horse on Christmas day, in a friendly trot with a neighbor, between the old and new town at Lime Springs, suddenly threw up his hands and fell back in his cutter and almost instantly died. Heart disease is assigned as the cause. He was a brother of P. T. Searles of this place and a few years his senior we think or about 60.
