EVERINGHAM, Alice E., aged 10 months.

The circle is broken, our darling our pet,
Will gladden our sight nevermore,
And we must live on, of the sweet one bereft,
Till we meet her on heaven’s bright shore.

Must live on, to miss the beautiful child,
The light of her lovely blue eyes,
So bright and so pure, so tender and mild,
‘Twas born to go back to the skyes.

Those dear little lips ever lisping the words,
“Pa-pa, Ma-ma, I can’t,” and “take care,”
No music was sweeter, the voice of the birds
For cheer, could not with it compare.

Thou art gone, little jewel, and now thy pure light,
Must brighten the circle above,
May Christ in His mercy grant us life,
With thee, in the land of love.
