Lonnie Friedrich, age 54, of Elma, died on Monday, March 31, 2008, at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco.
Lonnie Loyd Friedrich was born December 7, 1953 to Loyd and Maxine (Laue) Friedrich in Riceville, IA. He graduated from Riceville High School in 1972. Lonnie was united in marriage to Mary Jo Zeimetz on June 22, 1974 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elma and to this marriage four children were born. The couple farmed and later he attended North Iowa Community College in Calmar taking electrical classes. Lonnie was then engaged in organic farming and was an electrician.
He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Pauls Maple Leaf Lutheran Church.
Lonnie is survived by his mother Maxine Friedrich of Elma; wife Mary Jo Friedrich of Elma; four children Heather Friedrich of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Brad (Stacy) Friedrich and their children Paige, Aiden and Owen of Mantorville, Minnesota, Dana (Ryan Vulk) Friedrich of San Francisco, Calif. and Karlie (Ryan Eastman) Friedrich of Elma; brothers Larry (Jeanne) Friedrich of Elma and Rod (Toni) Friedrich of Alta Vista; sisters JoAnn (Greg) Chambers of Crowley, Texas, and Debra (Roger) Schroeder of Elma; aunts and uncles and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Loyd, paternal grandparents Ernest and Linda Friedrich and maternal grandparents Herman and Clara Laue.
Burial will be in St. Pauls Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in Elma and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma followed by a brief service at St. Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church.
