Found in the 1940 census at Chester, Howard, Iowa: Clayton Kenter 45, Barbara Kenter 43, Lou Vern Kenter 18, Leo Kenter 16, Everett Kenter 10, Dale Kenter 8; Working as a farm laborer.

Leo married Rosemary Dargan on January 16, 1945 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 7 children.

Leo Kinter died September 6, 1973 at Des Moines, Polk, Iowa and is buried at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, Polk, Iowa.
