DIED.
THAYER.--At his residence in West Decorah, at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 25, Mr. R. O Thayer, aged 58 years.
Mr. Thayer came to Howard county in 1855, and afterward to Decorah. He enlisted as a private in Co. B., 7th, Iowa Infantry, and served with his regiment during 1863 and 1864, being wounded in 1864 at Jonesboro, Georgia, and has finally died from the effects of that wound. His funeral will take place at 2 p. m. on Thursday, from the M. E. church here. His body will be taken to Howard County on Friday to be interred with others of the family.
Mr. Thayer was a patriotic soldier, and a good citizen. He was universally liked and esteemed, and his family have the sympathy of all.--
