MRS. MERRILL BOWERS, LIFE-LONG RESIDENT OF COMMUNITY, DIED
Funeral Services Held Monday Afternoon Under Direction of Rev. E.F. Byers at Congregational Church
Funeral services for Mrs. Merrill Bowers, 72, a life long resident of Cresco, were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Bradley Funeral home. The Rev. E.F. Byers, pastor of the Congregational church in Cresco, was in charge of the services and burial was made in the Oak Lawn cemetery.
Mrs. Bowers who died in her home Friday evening after a six months illness was born and married in Cresco in the home in which she died.
Ida Lomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Lomas of Cresco, was born September 16, 1874 and graduated from Cresco high school in 1892. She was married to Merrill Bowers, May 18, 1899 and the couple lived for a short time in Le Roy, Minnesota.
Mrs. Bowers was an active Congregational church worker, a charter member of the Friends in Council in Cresco and a member of the Rebecca lodge while in Le Roy.
She is survived by her husband, Merrill Bowers of Cresco, two brothers, Frank Lomas of Sioux City and Dr. Willis Lomas of Pacific Palisades, California, and a nephew, Baird Lomas of Cresco. A brother, De Witt Lomas and one sister, Wynetta, preceded her in death.
Out of town relatives who attended the funeral services for Mrs. Bowers were her brother, Frank Lomas of Sioux City, Mrs. Foster Sheller of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Roy, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Miller, and Mrs. A.O. Brown of Le Roy, Minnesota, and Mrs. V.F. Bowers of Lime Springs.
