Helen was born August 12, 1929 in Forest City Township of Howard County Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Sir) Necas. She attended Forest City country school through the 8th grade and then attended the Lime Springs High School. On April 22, 1946 she married Gerald Farnsworth in Lime Springs. She and Gerald farmed their entire married life, when he died in 1995 she moved to Cresco. She enjoyed socializing, gardening and was an excellent Czech cook. When she entered the Cresco Care Center in November of 2010 she enjoyed all activities especially quilting and crafts. Helen was a long time member of the Lime Springs United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Lime Springs American Legion Auxiliary, the Birthday Club, the Howard County Hospital Auxiliary and was a 4H leader. Most of all Helen enjoyed her grand and great-grandchildren. Helen is survived by three sons: Donald (Nancy) Farnsworth of Marshalltown, Iowa, David (Jann) Farnsworth of Cresco, Iowa and Terry (Kerry) Farnsworth of Morton, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Nathan, Aaron, Debbie, Tracy, Russell, Lori, Ian and Christy; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard (Floriene) Necas of Dubuque, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary (W. L. ‘Champ’) Champion; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Frank (Gladys) Necas and Leslie (Virginia) Necas. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Lime Springs United Methodist Church.
Visitation:
3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco and for an hour prior to services at the Community Center.Service:
11:00 am on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Lime Springs Community Center.Cemetery:
