HOWARD COUNTY TIMES September 7, 1871

On Monday, Sept. 4th, Samuel Gibson, father of Mrs. J. W. Skinner of Cresco. Supposed to be of heart disease, aged 65 years.

Mr. Gibson has been very feeble for a long time, but was able to walk out, and was not considered in a dangerous condition. On Monday he went out in quest of a cow, South of town. The cow coming home without him fears were entertained and search being made he was found about midway between Cresco and New Oregon dead. The Coroner was called and the decision was rendered as above. The funeral services were held at his late residence on Wednesday.
