DIED.

BALLARD.--In Cresco, Iowa, August 1, 1878, Mary Jane Ballard, wife of Wm. Ballard, aged 49 years, 1 month and 18 days.

The subject of the above notice was born in Warren Co., Penn., June 14, 1829, the youngest of the children of Charles and Cynthia Taylor. In Feb., 1846 she was united in marriage to Wm. Ballard, in Busti, N. Y. She removed here from Warren, Pa., with her husband and three children, who reside here now, in 1868. Her sickness has been long and painful, but has been borne with the patient fortitude of a martyr. An acquaintance from the days of her childhood to the day of her death, justifies us in pronouncing her to have been a true woman in all the relations of life, kind, generous and self sacrificing, quiet and of retiring nature. Words are inadequate and inappropriate to measure and express the great grief this affliction visits upon the family and friends.
