KANSAS CITY, MO - A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Lyle G. Streich of Kansas City, formerly of Elma, Iowa will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma with Father Steve Garner officiating. Interment will be held in Howard Cemetery in Elma.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma with a 5 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service and a rosary immediately following. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial mass on Thursday.

Lyle, 65, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at his home.

Lyle Gene Streich was born June 20, 1948, at the Elma Hospital in Elma, the son of Edwin and Blanche (Kutzbach) Streich. Lyle graduated from Crestwood High School in 1966.

On Aug. 1, 1970, he married Patricia (Enright) Streich at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Lourdes, Iowa.

He was a leader in his community including two terms as the Mayor of Elma and President of the Howard County Conservation Board. He was a volunteer fire fighter, active in Jaycees and Elma Community Club. He was a member of the Elma Immaculate Conception Parish and served on the Parish Board. Lyle was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. He was active in Scouting as a youth, earning his Eagle Scout award. He continued to be active as an adult serving on the local, district and council levels in the Winnebago Council. For his dedication and service, he was recognized as a Vigil Honor member in the Order of the Arrow, was presented the Silver Beaver and the St. George Catholic Scouting awards.

He was employed at Donaldson Company, Inc for 29 years and served as UAW Union President. In 2001, Lyle moved to Kansas City to be with his children and grandchildren where he was a parishioner at St. Gabriel Catholic Church and was employed at Walmart.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children: Brian (Marcy) Streich, Bridgette (Barry) Mueller, Robert (Callie) Streich, and Bradley (Staci) Streich all of Kansas City, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edwin (1991); Blanche (1991); and his brother: Robert Streich (1967).
