Bruce C. Gunhus was born January 16, 1955 in San Diego, California, the son of Larry and Virginia (Sanderson) Gunhus. He graduated from Crestwood High School in 1973 and last weekend visited with many of his former classmates at their 40 year class reunion. Following High School he worked in the Auto Parts Departments at Kratz Motors in Cresco, later at other dealerships in Oelwein, Mason City, California and Texas. He also worked for a barge line on the Mississippi River. Most recently he was a Real Estate Agent with Jack Edson Real Estate in Ft. Worth, Texas. Of utmost importance in Bruce’s life he gave forever homes to many a good dog whether they came to him or he chose them. Bruce enjoyed hunting, riding all types of bikes from Pedal bike to Dirt bike to Harley Davidsons including a Servi-car and his most recent antique Harley Davidson Police bike. As a Nascar fan he has held season tickets to the Ft. Worth motor speedway since its inception. He took great enjoyment in storytelling while sitting around with his family and friends. He was one to take great pride in his Norwegian heritage, his Texan residency and the personal characteristic most associated with him; his handlebar moustache. He is survived by his Dad and Step-mother; Larry & Lois Gunhus of Decorah; two sisters: Kristi (Lonnie) of Cresco and Valerie and her son Beirgen of Waukon; a step-brother, Craig (Sarah) Chyle and children, Caleb, Camrin, Chloe all of Decorah; a step-sister, Crystal (Bill) Wetherington and children, Christopher, Jessica, Aaron and Tristan all of Cresco; his aunt, Shirley (Alan) Meister and family of California; his uncle, Harlan (Connie) Sanderson of Wisconsin; his aunt, Gelene Gunhus and family of Cresco and his good neighbor, Doug Delong of Ft. Worth, Texas. Bruce will also be missed by his dogs, Bo and Black Jack Bruce is preceded in death by his mom, Virginia in 1973, his grandparents, his uncle Duane Gunhus and many good friends of all ages.

Visitation:
4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2013

Service:
2:00 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco.

Cemetery:
Burial will follow services at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Cresco.
