Cresco - A memorial service for Lucille M. Byrnes of Cresco, IA was held at 10:30 a.m. of Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Heritage Events Center in Cresco.
Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 2 at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco and one hour prior to services on Friday at the Event Center.
Conway Funeral Home in Cresco handled the arrangements.
Lucille, 82, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco. She suffered for many years with heart problems and cancer since 2001.
Lucille Marie Byrnes was born February 5, 1927 in Cresco, the daughter of Fred A. and Mary (Wade) Gerber. Lucille was raised in Cresco, but moved to Tacoma, WA, in 1945 with her family.
She married Robert Byrnes in Tacoma in 1947 and she and Robert moved back to Cresco in 1948 to farm with his parents. For many years they had a large dairy operation.
Lucille loved to crochet. She had many flower gardens and loved to watch the birds at their feeders. She and Bob also loved to snowmobile. Bob on the snowmobile and Lucille in the "Scaboose"
Lucille is survived by her children: Jeanie Byrnes, Julie (Barry Nelson) Byrnes,Tim (Thresea) Byrnes, Pat (Pam) Byrnes, and Rick (Wanda) Byrnes, all of Cresco; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;two sisters: Donna Ault of Seattle, WA; and Hazel Gerber of Tacoma, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; two infant sons; three brothers; Paul, Herold and Glen Gerber; three sisters; Edith Newhouse, Joyce Mazza, and Rachael Janinga; and a grandson, Kris Kaderabek.
