OBITUARY.

Our whole community is in mourning, a tender chord in every heart has been touched. To-day we deeply sympathize with bereaved friends in their loss of one who but two short days ago bid for a long life as any in our midst; but alas, we shall see her no more "till we pass over the river."

No lingering disease to prepare us for the sad event, but tarrying just long enough to feel her "new born" nestling by her side, and she is gone.

Sister CHRISTIE A. FAWCETT, maiden name, Robinson; was born in Saratoga County, N. Y., July 5th 1838; married to Thomas B. Fawcett, March 5th 1857; experienced religion and united with the Prisbyterian{sp} Church at the age of 26; moved to Iowa in 1867.

Another article as follows:

DIED May 29th, 1873.

SISTER CHRISTIE was the first link severed from a family circle of Father, Mother and nine children, all grown up and heads of families.

Truly our Heavenly Father has been good to them in thus permitting them to enjoy each others society, and now may His grace sustain them in this their hour of trial, and especially may He be very near to that bereaved companion and those five darling little girls.

This afternoon all business was suspended while friend and stranger crowded around our place of worship, where some timely remarks were made by Bro Ellis of Deerfield, after which we gently laid her to rest in our beautiful cemetrey.{sp}

Quietly sleep beloved one,
Rest from thy toil, thy labor is done,
Rest till the trump from the opening skies
Bids thee from dust to glory arise;
Then, oh then will we meet thee again,
Free from all pain in that heavenly land,
The joy of that meeting, oh who can tell,
Companion and friend, till then farewell.

D. E. Potter.
