Charles Arthur Prann was born on February 6, 1870, at Cresco, Iowa and was accidentally killed by a railway train within a few rods of his home in Minneapolis on July 24, 1920. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his wife and two children, Chester, aged 11 years, and Dorothy, aged 5 years; also three brothers- A.W. and F.J. Prann of Hermiston, Ore., and W.E. Prann of Timber Lake, S.D. The deceased has been a resident of Minneapolis for at least twenty years. Funeral services were conducted at the home by the Rev. Luther B. Deck, the following pallbearers being selected from his old Howard county friends- Henry Taft, A.W.Dorn,C.R. Hazledine, Lou Mason, Myron Converse and Oliver Wanless. Others present from Howard county were C.P. Nash, W.B. Lent and wife, Mrs. A.W. Dorn, Ed Williams and several others whose names the writer was unable to recall or obtain. The casket was banked with beautiful wreaths and bouquets of flowers from loving friends. Internment was at Crystal Lake cemetery, Minneapolis, Wednesday, July 28th.
Only a few days before his death Mr. Prann and family attended the annual picnic given by members of the Howard County Picnic Association and renewed acquaintance with his many Howard county friends, who like he had moved to the Twin Cities and from the number of people attending the funeral who had known him in Howard county one might almost feel that he was in his old home.
The Howard County Picnic Association acting under the kind and able direction of Mr. C.P. Nash demonstrated the value of such an organization by lending their assistance to the bereaved family and left but very little for the brothers to do upon their arrival, and the brothers at this time desire to express their sincere thanks to the Howard County Picnic Association and others personally for the assistance and many courtesies in their time of sorrow.
