PARKHURST -- In this city on Friday Morning, July 16, 1869, MR. JAMES B. PARKHURST, aged about 33 years.

Mr. Parkhurst was almost a stranger in Omaha and had been employed as bookkeeper with Barkalow Brothers. He was known to the editor of this paper in the character of one of the most competent business men he ever met, a man of fine abilities and of equally good motives, and we had already formed a strong attachment to him. We much regret the sudden death of one, who, had he been spared, would have made an honorable mark in this new country, which, with so many hopes, he had chosen to make his home.

Mr. Parkhurst had been in broken health for some weeks and had been suffering for some days from a severe bowel complaint. The disease suddenly centered upon the brain and congestion of this organ superveneing, he passed away peacefully and without a struggle.

Mr. Parkhurst leaves a stricken wife and two children to mourn the loss of one who was all in all to them. May God help them in their heavy sorrows. They are among strangers far from their native home, but with such helping friends as Col. Bronson, who is Mr. Parkhurst's cousin, they are not without that kind of friends who are friends in need. -- Omaha Herald, July 17.
