William Shock, Native of County, Dies at 83
Funeral services for William Shock, 83, of the Woodlawn Convalescent Home, were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Calvary United Methodist church in Waterloo. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery. Grandsons of Mr. Shock served as pall bearers.
Mr. Shock died of complications following a stroke on Sunday at the convalescent home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1888, in Howard county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shock. He married Beatrice Green on May 30, 1915, and farmed in Howard county until retiring to Waterloo. Survivors include four sons, Charles, John, Ray and Bill of Waterloo, two daughters, Mrs. Alice Urban of Waterloo and Mrs. Edward O'Brien of Elma; 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, a brother Joseph of Cresco and a sister, Mrs. Anna Marek of Cedar Rapids.
Attending from here were Mr. and Mrs. Ed O'Brien and George of Elma, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Richardson of Riceville, Mrs. Marlin Meyer of Stacyville and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shock of Cresco.
