Bennett Pittelko a Victim of Heat Wave Last Week
Bennett C. Pittelko, son of William and Susan Stephen Pittelko, was born Jan. 4, 1907 in Houston County, Minn. He was confirmed by Rev. John Pless in the Immanuel Lutheran church on the 13th of June in 1920.
Since January, 1929 he has been employed on the Frank Drtina farm and it was while performing his regular duties at this place that he was overcome by the heat Thursday afternoon, July 10th. He was rushed to Mercy hospital in an unconscious condition from which he never rallied and death relieved his sufferings the following noon.
Bennett was a good, quiet boy, a regular attendant at the church and communion services. He received his education in the rural schools of the county and spent the time following assisting his father in his farm work. His death is a great shock to his parents and the members of his family as well as to his many friends.
Besides his parents, two sisters and three brothers are left to survive. They are: Viola, Carl, Walter, Alvina and Albert, all at home with their parents on a farm near Chester.
The Heavenly Father picks the nicest and best flowers to adorn His heavenly home. While it is hard to lose a child so young and so suddenly, we console ourselves that he has entered a better heritage. Lord teach us all to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:15 p.m. at the Joe Velz home east of Cresco and at 2:30 at the Immanuel Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Howard Center cemetery. The Rev. F. Engelhart, pastor, officiated.
Relatives from a distance who were present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ben Heidt and family of Brownsdale, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pittelko and family of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hecht and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hecht of Appleton, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Pittelko and family of Chatfield, Minn.; Mrs. Julius Pittelko and two sons of Spring Valley.
