Karen Lee (Moen) Tanner
Karen Lee (Moen) Tanner, 63, of Cleveland, Miss., passed through Heaven’s gates Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, due to liver failure.
She was born in Cresco May 18, 1949, to Alfred O. and Ethel E. (Lunningdal) Moen. She was raised on a farm in the beautiful hills of Northeast Iowa. Karen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was educated in Howard County schools and graduated from Crestwood High School. She married David James Tanner in 1971. To this union two children were born: David James Tanner Jr. and Tanya Nicole (Tanner) Duwell.
Karen attended Arlington Court Reporting School and graduated in 1997 and went on to work for courts in Alabama and Mississippi. She was well-respected by her colleagues for both her work ethic and the consideration she showed others.
Karen enjoyed reading, keeping up with political and current events, bowling with the girls, playing at the casino, caring for her pets and most of all, sharing a good joke. She did what she could to make others happy. One of her greatest passions was the Angel Tree at Christmas time and encouraging change that would benefit those in need. She adored her grandchildren, and was much loved in return.
Karen is survived by her husband, David, son, David Jr. (Grandson Landon), daughter Tanya (husband Paul, grandsons Nic and Jake), sister Roberta (Blekeberg), brothers Ron (Gayle) Moen, Ross (Luann) Moen and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father and grandparents.
