James E. Long of Cresco, Died Here Monday Afternoon
Funeral Services for Forty-Two Year Old Father of Two Small Children Held This Morning
James Edward Long age 42 employer{sic} of the Howard County maintenance department and the father of two small children died in the Cresco hospital Monday afternoon at 1:45.
The Cresco man had been suffering from high blood pressure and had been seriously ill the last seven weeks. He had entered the Cresco hospital Friday.
Funeral services were held for Mr. Long this morning at 10:00 in the Bradley Funeral home. The Rev. Vernon Peters, pastor of the Cresco Assumption church was in charge and burial was in the Howard Center cemetery.
James Edward Long, son of Mrs. Edna Shields of Cresco, and the late James J. Long, was born July 15, 1907 on a farm northwest of Howard Center. He attended the Howard Center school as a youth. When he was eight years of age, July 22, 1915, his father died.
He was married to Ada Beaston of Waukon, August 6, 1943 and they became the parents of two children, James William and Michael George.
Surviving Mr. Long, there are his widow and two children, his mother and brothers and sisters, Frank, Earl, and Charles Long, Mrs. Kenneth Shaw and Mrs. Joseph Cordes of Waterloo, Mrs. Max Fisher of Monticello and Arthur Shields of Cresco.
