Mrs. Martha Ferkingstad Dies Here Tuesday Night

Mrs. Martha Ferkingstad, 89, of Cresco, died last night (Tuesday) in her home.

Funeral services are set for Friday afternoon at the Cresco First Lutheran Church with burial to be made at Howard Center.

Mrs. Ferkingstad, widow of the late Nels Ferkingstad, is survived by two daughters.

The Bradley Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Ferkingstad Held in Cresco Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Ferkingstad, 89, of Cresco who died Sept. 25, were held in the First Lutheran Church Sept. 28 with the Rev. G. A. Sundby of Decorah in charge.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Bradley Funeral Home with burial in the Howard Center Cemetery.

Mrs. Ferkingstad, the former Martha Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson, was born in Chickasaw County, June 24, 1867. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She lived in Chickasaw and Howard Counties, having moved to Cresco in 1923.

She was married to Nels Ferkingstad in Sep. 1898. Three daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ferkingstad. One daughter died in infancy.

Surviving Mrs. Ferkingstad are two daughters, Ovidia and Josie of Cresco, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Olson of Lawler.

Preceding the Cresco women{sic} in death were{sic} her husband, who died in 1904, and a daughter, besides three sisters and two brothers.
