George Leferink – February 9, 1875 – June 16, 1951

RITES HELD TUESDAY FOR CRESCO RESIDENT

Cresco – Funeral services for George Leferink, 76, who died in his home here Saturday after a year’s illness, were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Roman Schares officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery west of Cresco.

Mr. Leferink lived here for 50 years. He was born in Burne, Holland, February 9, 1875, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Leferink. The family came to America, landing in New York, April 15, 1894. They located at Festina.

On January 14, 1900, Mr. Leferink was married to Mary Busch at Festina. They moved from there to Cresco that year. Mrs. Leferink died April 23, 1920.

From that marriage, 4 children survive: Frank, Cresco; John, Waterloo; Mrs. Bernard Wilde, Lakeville, Minn.; Mrs. Felix Timp, Calmar.

Mr. Leferink’s second marriage was to Mrs. Theresa Balk of Cresco. She survives. There are also 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
