Philip Pilger

Philip Pilger was born at Madison, Wisconsin, on September l0th, 1845, and departed this life May 15th, 1935 at Ada, Minn., at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 6 days.

On March 28th, 1873 he was united in marriage to Julia Kuene. To this union eleven children were born. They lived in Albion Twp. for many years and gave of their interest and talent to the work of the Zion Evangelical Church. The wife and mother died on March 28th, 1920 and was laid to rest in the Cedar Hill cemetery. Since that time Mr. Pilger has lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Selmer Aamoth of Ada, Minn. After all that loving hearts and hands of children could do, he answered the final summons to rest from labor.

He leaves to mourn their loss his eight children, and 24 grandchildren, together with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Zion Evangelical Church Saturday afternoon by Rev. Park E. Milber. The songs "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden", were sung by Mrs. A. Bigalk, Mrs. A. Keune and A. Bronner. The sermon theme was "The Victory of Life" from 1st Cor. 15:51-58.

Those in attendance at the funeral from out-of-town were: Mrs. Frank Manning of Judd, N. Dak.; Mrs. Clara Mansager of Jamestown, N D.; Mr. and Mrs. Selmar Aamoth and son Robert of Ada, Minn.; and Henry Pilger of Fertile. Minn. The following children were unable to attend the funeral: Mr. H. L. Pilger of Fertile, Minn.; Mrs. Joe Kroyer of Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. George Dawson of Arlington, Wash.

We wish to thank all who gave of their aid, sympathy, and floral tributes in the passing of our beloved father.
