Services held for William Norman, 96

Funeral services for William T. Norman, 96, of Denver, CO, were held Wednesday, May 6, at 4:00 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Lewis Hanigan officiating. Interment was in the Cedar Hill cemetery with a masonic grave-side service provided by members of the Great Lights Lodge of Decorah.

Bill died March 2, 1998 at the VA Care Center in Denver, CO.

William Theodore Norman was born December 5, 1901 in Oak Hill, Ohio, the son of Allen and Madge (Marsh) Norman. The family moved to Springfield, Ohio when he was a teenager and after completing his education he enlisted in the Army, serving in the Quartermaster Corps at Camp Gordon, Georgia from February 1920 to July 1921.

Bill moved to Terre Haute, IN and for a number of years had a partnership in an auto garage business. He started working for the American Can Company there in 1940.

He was a member of the State Guard of Indiana and received his discharge to enlist in the Army in April 1942. He served in the Africa-Italy Campaign during World War II receiving his discharge in June 1945.

In 1955, Bill was transferred to Denver, CO, where American Can Company had built a new plant, until his retirement in 1966.

On November 26, 1958 in Denver, he was united in marriage to Thelberta Bigalk.

Survivors include his wife, Thelberta of Denver; and daughter, Anne Kidd of Parker, CO.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and four brothers.
