FUNERAL RITES FOR MRS. H. MILLER HELD MONDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Herman Miller were held Monday, May 10, at the Evangelical church by the Pastor Rev. Park E. Miller, who used the 16th verse of the 22nd chapter of St. John and presented a meditation on the theme "God will take care of you" the entire outline of which had been suggested by the deceased.

Her selection of songs were "God Will Take Care of You," "In the Garden," and "That Beautiful Land" sung by the Green Leafton Male Quartette and "Sweeter Than All" sung by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Reynolds, accompanied by Mrs. Park E. Miller. The entire service in the setting of many very beautiful flowers was indeed very appropriate and impressive.

Pall bearers were: Harry, Herbert, John, Lewis, Leonard and Ernest Walter. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Amanda Henrietta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Walter, was born August 23, 1880, in Albion township, Howard County, and passed from this life to the life beyond on the 7th day of May, 1937, at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 15 days.

She was married to Herman A. Miller on Sept. 30, 1903 and to this union nine children were born.

Amanda grew up under the influence of the Evangelical church, of which she was a loving and devoted member, always finding comfort and blessing in the Word of God which was food and anchorage to her soul. During her late sickness and suffering she often repeated the twenty-third psalm and selected it as one of her favorite scriptures and texts for her memorial service. She also loved the music of the soul and selected her own message in song.

Mrs. Miller was a faithful Christian and, these lines of Whittier's can very fittingly be applied to her:

"With us was one, who calm and true,
Life's highest purpose understood.
And like her blessed Master
Knew the Joy of doing good. "

Those surviving her are her husband and the following children: Vernon, Vera, Maxine, Milton and LaVon. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Albert Bigalk and Mrs. J. P. Keune and one granddaughter, Marcia Ann Miller, also a large number of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Rosetta, who died May 8, 1909 and four children.

Out-of-town relative and friends who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Beljdt and family of Eyota, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reuter and family and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Walter of Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Biel and father, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Keune of Spring Valley, Mr. and Mrs. John Keune of Stewartville and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Miller and family of Adams.
