Funeral services for Mrs. John Brown who died Jan. 19, 1942, were held at 11:30 last Wednesday afternoon at her home at, Florenceville and at 2:00 o'clock at the Zion Evangelical church northwest of Cresco.

Mrs. Albert Bigalk and Mrs. Helen Martin sang the hymns "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Going down the Valley." Mrs. Wm. Heisterkamp played the piano accompaniment.

The Rev. A. L. Walker officiated and burial was in Cedar Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Bigalk, Herman Bigalk, Leonard Walter, Wesley Keune, Wm. Nolan and Edw. Schumann.

Mrs. Brown's maiden name was Anna Mathilda Scheurer. She was born at La Porte. City, la., Nov. 5, 1885. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Scheurer. When five years old she moved with her parents to a farm near Ridgeway. They lived there until 1910 when the family moved to Albion township.

She was united in marriage with John Brown, Sept. 19. 1918. Mr. Brown and her sister Addie, who is Mrs. Albert Bronner of Albion township, survive. The Rev. Lewis Scheurer of the Iowa Evangelical Conference, deceased, was a cousin of Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Bronner and Wm. Shirer, author of "Berlin Diary," is their second cousin.

Mrs. Brown was 56 years, 2 months and 22 days old. She died after an illness of long duration.
