Clara E. Webster was born in Howard county, February 3rd, 1860. In 1872 she moved with her parents to Cresco, which has since been her home. She was a member of the Class of 1880, the first class to graduate from our high school. That she did acceptable work and was highly esteemed by her teachers, was shown by the fact that she was recommended by them as a member of the teaching corps, which she became the year following her graduation, and continued in the work until her marriage.

On January 4th, 1888, she was married to Mr. John McCook of Cresco. Four children were given them, the oldest a baby boy, died in infancy, and three daughters, who live to mourn their dear mother.

March 9th, 1877, she united with the Congregational church, helping in Sunday School and other church work more than her feeble health would warrant. She was an honest consistent Christian, a loving wife and mother, and a faithful homemaker, at the same time never forgetful of the parental home and the welfare of all its members, and she will be sorely missed.
