Following is an item which appeared in the Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette, of Aug. 23, 1916.
Miss Chambers is Bride of C. J. Chyle—With sevens guests in attendance, Miss Mary Mitchell Chambers was united in marriage to Charles Joseph Chyle at 8 o’clock last evening (Aug. 22, 1916) in the home of the bride’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Chambers, 921 Seventeenth avenue. The living room was in pink and white and the dining room in yellow and white, roses being used profusely. At the ceremony hour Miss Mary Paul sang “O Perfect Day.” The song was followed by the Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin, which Mrs. Jane Dennis played for the wedding march. The bridal party was led by the flower girl, Rebecca Dennis, who was in white and carried the two wedding rings in a basket of roses. Next was the bridesmaid, Miss Lorena Adams, who wore pink taffeta and carried pink roses. The bride and bridegroom followed, the bride wearing white satin and carrying a bouquet of brides roses. The bride’s brother, Robert Mansfield Chambers, was best man. The double ring ceremony was read by Rev. F. H. Shedd, pastor of Sinclair Memorial Church. The wedding supper was served by five of the bride’s most intimate friends, Misses Anna Jensen, Ruth Wilson, Elsie Thomas, Gladys McLeod and Esther Payne.
For the present the bride and bridegroom will make their home with the bride’s parents.
The bride is an only daughter, and has always lived in Cedar Rapids, she was employed as stenographer in the office of the Iowa Adjustment Co.
Mr. Chyle came to this city six years ago from Protivin, Ia., and is a bookkeeper for the Smith Motor Car Co. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Chyle, of Protivin were here for the wedding.
