Married in California.
The Le Roy Independent contains the following item concerning the marriage of Evelyn River, who for several years was, with her parents, a resident of Cresco.
“Monday of last week Miss Evelyn River departed for Los Angeles and on her arrival there Thursday the 4th, she was united in marriage to Mr. Leo J. Sheridan, whose home is at Anaheim, Cal. Miss River is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. River, for many years prominent residents of Oak Dale township. For the past eight years or more she has been clerking at Columbia, S. D., first for Albert Karlen and later for the River Mercantile Company.
She has proved herself a very capable business woman, is endowed with a happy disposition, a fine character and many other winning graces and we feel that her husband should receive more more{sic} than ordinary congratulations on winning her.
Mr. Sheridan's home was formerly at Columbia where the two first met, but he has lived in California for several years, holding now the office of water commissioner in his home city.”
