Thirtieth Wedding Anniversary
In spite of the wintry appearance of the weather, Friday evening, Jan. 31, 1913, many or the friends of Mr. and Mrs. John Harris gathered at their home to remind them that they had been married thirty years and to celebrate the event. Card playing and dancing were the amusements of the evening. .
At about 12:30 the attention of the guests was called to the parlor where Mike Derr, Jr., delivered a few words of appreciation which made a favorable impression on all, and then, in behalf of the present and absent ones, presented Mr. and Mrs. Harris with a well filled purse, which was accepted with many thanks but much more with a desire that those present should enjoy and appreciate the time spent with them. After this supper was served from the well filled baskets, which the ladies had nicely prepared. Immediately after supper Mr. Williams, of Wisconsin, sang a number of solos, which were very much enjoyed by all. O’Brien Bros., rendered the music to which the young folks engaged in dancing until the wee hours of the morning called one and all to their separate homes, wishing Mr. and Mrs. Harris many more such events.
