Silver Wedding Anniversary.
Saturday, June 17, was the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Keune, and the day was appropriately celebrated by their hosts of friends and neighbors in Albion; several being present also from Cresco, Harmony and Preston, about 250 people being in attendance during the afternoon and evening.
The party was so successfully planned that Mr. and Mrs. Keune had not the slightest inkling of the affair. Kind neighbors brought them to Cresco for an auto ride and dinner. Upon their return home they found the house and yard filled with the self invited guests.
At about 3:30 o’clock, to the strains of the wedding march played by Mrs. A. H. Keune, the bridal party of twenty five years ago, took their places under a beautifully decorated arch in the parlor, and listened to a few well chosen words of congratulations and good wishes spoken by Rev. Schwab. At the conclusion of his remarks, the assembled company took their turn in wishing this worthy couple many more years of happiness and prosperity. Quite an unusual thing was the fact that the bridal couple had for their attendants the same maid and groomsman as upon their wedding day. Mrs. John Miller was bridesmaid and Amil Bigalk was groomsman.
Shortly after the ceremony the company set down to bountifully filled tables spread on the lawn, each one doing ample justice to the elegant repast provided. The afternoon and evening was pleasantly passed in social intercourse, games and music. Lemonade and cake being served during the ceremony, the bride graciously dispensing the wedding cake, which was certainly a work of domestic art.
Mr. and Mrs. Keune were the recipients of many beautiful reminders of the occasion, among them being a silver bread plate, silver meat fork, two silver gravy ladles and twelve dollars in silver.
