Saturday, March 16th was made the occasion of of{sic} a most enjoyable and long to be remembered event when about 150 relatives, neighbors and friends of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Ashley gathered at their pleasant home at Rose Hill, in honor of their fortieth wedding anniversary. About 10 a. m. the guests began to arrive with well filled baskets and at the proper hour a sumptuous wedding dinner was served in the church, (just across the way.) After which came in order toasts and presentation to Mr. A., of a modern mammoth churn and butterworker combined, and to Mrs. A., a generous purse as slight tokens of their esteem in which they are held by the assembled company. Mr. and Mrs. Ashley are among the early pioneers of Albion twp., having lived on the farm where they now reside during the forty years of their wedded life. At a reasonable hour the guests departed with loving wishes that Mr. and Mrs. Ashley may be spared to celebrate their golden wedding aniversary.
