Silver Wedding Anniversary Party
On Friday evening, the 15th, there was a surprise party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Barnes of Schley. It was a surprise in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary and of course they did not know that the promoters were busy soliciting donations, inviting friends and doing other details for the occasion, until to their astonishment people began to pour in at their home in great numbers quite early in the evening.
The visitors were welcome as well as unexpected and both Mr. and Mrs. Barnes expressed their thanks and appeared very happy.
The guests indulged in dancing, playing games, social chatting etc., commencing early in the evening. At midnight a good supper was served them, the amusements were continued till the wee hours of morning when all departed for their homes thinking what a well spent night it was and wishing that this worthy couple would live to enjoy the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary. A silver set and a fine Morris chair were presented to them in token of their friendship and to commemorate this event which we are sure will not be soon forgotten.
